AirTag tracking for South African business
Track your gear on the Find My network. Skip the SIM cards.
NovaTrack puts every Apple AirTag your business owns on one dashboard, with location history, zones, alerts and an API. Coin-sized tags, a year on a battery, and no monthly data bill per device.

If you have used an AirTag, you already know.
Nothing else this small finds things this reliably. The catch has always been that AirTags were built for one person and their keys, not for a business with a hundred toolboxes. NovaTrack fixes the business part: one shared dashboard, no personal Apple ID juggling, history you can export, and alerts your team actually sees.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs itself.
-
1
Get your tags on board
Bring AirTags you already own and we import their keys, or order tags from Novasys ready to go.
-
2
Stick them on your stuff
Toolboxes, trailers, generators, laptop bags. AirTags are small, waterproof to IP67 and need no wiring or charging.
-
3
Watch the map
Apple devices nearby report each tag’s position. NovaTrack collects the reports and shows them on your map, history and alerts.
Features
Everything a fleet of AirTags needs.
Built for operations teams who need to know where things are, not for tinkering.
Live map
Every tag on one map with its latest position, accuracy circle and colour. No 32-item limit, no juggling personal Apple IDs.
History and playback
Scrub back through where a tag has been, play the route back and export it to CSV. We keep 90 days of history.
Geofences
Draw zones around depots, sites and client premises. Get an email the moment a tag enters or leaves.
Alerts that matter
Hear about it when a tag has not been seen for a set number of hours, or when its battery runs low.
Share a live location
Send a customer an expiring link so they can watch the engineer on the way. The link shows the tag and nothing else.
Privacy modes
Track a tag always, only during working hours, or only while it is on a job. Locations outside the window are never stored.
Battery and last seen
See each tag’s battery level and when Apple’s network last spotted it, so you know which tags need attention.
REST API and webhooks
Pull devices and history into your own systems, start jobs from your ticketing tool and receive signed webhooks for every event.
Teams
Invite colleagues to the same account so dispatch, stores and management all look at the same map.
Compared
AirTags versus typical GPS trackers.
GPS trackers still win for second-by-second vehicle tracking. For almost everything else, the AirTag is smaller, cheaper to run and easier to live with.
| Category | AirTag with NovaTrack | Typical GPS tracker |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 31 mm coin, about 11 g | Matchbox to brick sized |
| Battery | About a year on a CR2032 coin cell | Days to weeks, or wired to the vehicle |
| Monthly SIM / data | None | Yes, per device |
| Gateway or hub | Not needed | Not for cellular GPS (Bluetooth beacon systems do need one) |
| Coverage | Anywhere iPhones go, which is most places people are | Anywhere with mobile signal and sky view |
| Update speed | Minutes in busy areas, slower in remote ones | Every few seconds to minutes |
| Charging | Never, swap the battery once a year | Often, or hard-wired |
| Easy to hide | Yes | Harder |
The hardware
Small enough to hide. Tough enough for site.
The Apple AirTag, original or 2nd generation. It talks to nearby Apple devices over Bluetooth and they relay its encrypted location. Nothing to plug in, nothing to top up.
A little wider than a R5 coin. Fits inside toolboxes, bags, cases and under trailer covers.

Who it is for
Stop losing the stuff that pays the bills.
Field engineers and technicians
Know which tech is closest to a callout, send the client a live "on the way" link, and only track while a job is open.
Tools and equipment
Drop a tag in the toolbox, the generator, the laser level. Find out which site it was left on before you buy another one.
Vehicles and trailers
A cheap second opinion for bakkies, trailers and plant that sit at depots and sites, with alerts when they leave the yard.
Rentals
Tag hired-out gear, see when it arrives on site and when it comes home, and follow up on items that go quiet.
Privacy by design
Track the job, not the person.
When a tag travels with a technician, you do not need to know where it spends the weekend. Each tag has a privacy mode, and reports outside the allowed window are thrown away before they reach our database. That makes POPIA’s “only what you need” principle the default, not an afterthought.
Read our privacy policy.
Always
For assets: trailers, generators, toolboxes. Every report is kept.
Working hours only
For people-carried gear. Evenings and weekends are never recorded.
Only while on a job
Tracking starts when a job opens (from the dashboard or your system via the API) and stops when it closes.
Questions, answered plainly.
Do I need an iPhone?
No. Once your tags are on NovaTrack you use the web dashboard from any browser. The tags are found by the Apple devices of people walking past, not by your own phone.
How often does a location update?
It depends on how many Apple devices pass near the tag. In cities and busy sites it is typically every few minutes. Out in the country, on a farm or a quiet road it can take much longer. AirTags are not a replacement for real-time GPS on a moving vehicle, and we would rather tell you that up front.
Can I use AirTags I already own?
Yes. Bring your own AirTags and we import the tag keys onto your account. If you would rather not deal with setup, you can buy tags from Novasys ready to go. Just get in touch.
Do 2nd generation AirTags work?
Yes, both the original AirTag and the 2nd generation AirTag are supported.
What about the “AirTag found moving with you” warning?
Apple shows anti-stalking alerts when an unknown AirTag travels with someone. Staff carrying a company tag may see this. Tell your team about the tags, and use the working hours or on-job privacy modes for people-carried gear.
Is tracking staff legal in South Africa?
Tracking company assets is normal, but where a tag travels with a person you must tell them and have a lawful reason under POPIA. Our privacy modes help you only collect what you need. Your employment contracts and policies still need to cover it.
How much does it cost?
R49 per tag per month, billed monthly through PayFast. Cancel any time. The first 14 days are free for up to 2 tags.
Put your first tags on the map today.
14 days free for up to 2 tags. Then R49 per tag per month. No contract.
