Theft and loss recovery
When something goes missing, start with a location, not a guess.
Theft of tools, cables, generators and trailers is a daily cost for South African businesses. A hidden tag will not stop a determined thief, but it gives you a last known location and a trail to hand to your security company or SAPS.
What to tag
- Trailers and caravans
- Generators and pumps
- Cable drums and copper stock
- Tool cages and site boxes
- Laptops and IT kit
- Bicycles and scooters
How NovaTrack helps
Built around how theft and loss recovery works.
Leave-the-yard alerts
A zone around the yard emails you when a tag leaves it, day or night.
Trail for the police report
History shows where the item went after it left, with times, exportable to CSV.
Share with your response team
Send an expiring live link to your security company so they see the tag and nothing else.
No wiring to cut
A tag has no power lead or antenna to find, and fits inside a panel or a cover.

Mounting tips
Where to put the tag.
- Hide it, but not in a Faraday box
- Plastic panels, seat foam and cable conduit hide a tag well. Solid steel all round blocks the signal.
- Use more than one
- On high-value items, a second tag in a different spot survives a thief who finds the first.
- Act on the first alert
- Updates depend on passing iPhones, so the freshest position is the one you get soonest after it moves.
Good to know
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a separated tag may beep. Treat AirTags as a recovery aid, never as a guarantee, and never try to recover property yourself.

Difference
The honest answers.
Is it real-time?
No, and we will not pretend it is. A tag’s position updates when an Apple device passes close enough to hear it: every few minutes in busy areas, hours apart in quiet ones. NovaTrack fetches new reports every 15 minutes.
What happens when a thief has an iPhone?
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a tag away from its owner for a while may beep. Hide tags well, use more than one on valuable items, and treat tracking as a recovery aid.
Does it work in remote areas?
Only where Apple devices pass. On a farm, a remote site or underground, updates can be very slow or stop. Tags are strongest where people are: towns, roads, sites and depots.
What about metal?
Solid metal all round blocks Bluetooth. Mount tags behind plastic, near a gap or a vent, or on the outside in a rugged holder.
How long does the battery last?
About a year on a standard CR2032 coin cell. NovaTrack shows battery status so you know which tags to service.
