Trailers and fleet backup
A discreet second tracker for trailers, plant and parked vehicles.
Trailers and parked plant usually have no power, so wired GPS is awkward and battery GPS needs charging. An AirTag runs for about a year on a coin cell and hides inside a cover, a toolbox or a light housing.
What to tag
- Box and flatbed trailers
- Car and boat trailers
- Mobile toilets and site offices
- Parked bakkies and pool cars
- Forklifts and yard plant
- Containers and refrigerated units
How NovaTrack helps
Built around how trailers and fleet backup works.
No power needed
A year on a CR2032 coin cell. No harness, no charging schedule.
Yard and depot zones
Know when a trailer arrives at a customer, leaves the depot or turns up somewhere it should not.
Backup to vehicle GPS
If a GPS unit is found and pulled, a hidden tag can still report where the vehicle ended up.
Per-trailer history
See which customer site a trailer sat at and for how long.

Mounting tips
Where to put the tag.
- Trailers
- Inside the tow-hitch toolbox, a light housing or under the plastic mudguard lining, not against the steel chassis.
- Containers
- Near the door seal or a vent, where the signal can escape the steel box.
- Vehicles
- Behind a plastic trim panel or under seat foam, never loose where it can rattle out.
Good to know
Updates arrive when iPhones pass by: often every few minutes on busy roads, much slower on quiet farm roads. For live vehicle tracking and trip reports, keep your GPS system and use NovaTrack as the backup.

Difference
The honest answers.
Is it real-time?
No, and we will not pretend it is. A tag’s position updates when an Apple device passes close enough to hear it: every few minutes in busy areas, hours apart in quiet ones. NovaTrack fetches new reports every 15 minutes.
What happens when a thief has an iPhone?
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a tag away from its owner for a while may beep. Hide tags well, use more than one on valuable items, and treat tracking as a recovery aid.
Does it work in remote areas?
Only where Apple devices pass. On a farm, a remote site or underground, updates can be very slow or stop. Tags are strongest where people are: towns, roads, sites and depots.
What about metal?
Solid metal all round blocks Bluetooth. Mount tags behind plastic, near a gap or a vent, or on the outside in a rugged holder.
How long does the battery last?
About a year on a standard CR2032 coin cell. NovaTrack shows battery status so you know which tags to service.
