Equipment and tools
Know which site your equipment is on before you buy it twice.
Tools and small plant walk. They get left on the last job, borrowed by another crew or loaded onto the wrong bakkie. A coin-sized AirTag in each case or on each machine turns “has anyone seen the laser level?” into a glance at the map.
What to tag
- Power tool cases
- Laser levels and survey kit
- Generators and compressors
- Welders and pumps
- Ladders and scaffolding kits
- Test and measurement equipment
How NovaTrack helps
Built around how equipment and tools works.
Last known location, always
Every tag shows where Apple’s network last saw it, with an accuracy circle and a timestamp.
Zones for yards and sites
Draw a zone around each depot and site and get an email when kit arrives or leaves.
History you can export
Scroll back through where an item has been and export the trail to CSV for disputes or insurance.
Quiet-tag alerts
Hear about it when a tag has not reported for a set number of hours, before anyone thinks to look.
How it works · 5 simple steps
From order to map in days, not weeks.

Better odds of recovery
A last known position the moment something goes missing.
No more search parties
Check the map instead of phoning round every site.
Focus on the work
Run the business, not a lost-and-found desk.
Mounting tips
Where to put the tag.
- Tool cases
- Stick the tag inside the lid with double-sided tape or a screw-on holder, away from batteries.
- Generators and compressors
- Use a rugged holder bolted to the frame or inside the plastic cowling, not sealed in a steel box.
- Ladders and long items
- A cable-tie holder at the top rung or end cap keeps it out of the way of wear.
Good to know
AirTags suit things that sit still or move occasionally. For live, second-by-second tracking of a moving machine, use GPS alongside.
Cost
No SIM, no data bundle, no charging.

Difference
The honest answers.
Is it real-time?
No, and we will not pretend it is. A tag’s position updates when an Apple device passes close enough to hear it: every few minutes in busy areas, hours apart in quiet ones. NovaTrack fetches new reports every 15 minutes.
What happens when a thief has an iPhone?
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a tag away from its owner for a while may beep. Hide tags well, use more than one on valuable items, and treat tracking as a recovery aid.
Does it work in remote areas?
Only where Apple devices pass. On a farm, a remote site or underground, updates can be very slow or stop. Tags are strongest where people are: towns, roads, sites and depots.
What about metal?
Solid metal all round blocks Bluetooth. Mount tags behind plastic, near a gap or a vent, or on the outside in a rugged holder.
How long does the battery last?
About a year on a standard CR2032 coin cell. NovaTrack shows battery status so you know which tags to service.
