Rental and hire
Check hire items out and back in automatically.
Hire stock earns money only when you know where it is. Put a zone around your branches and customers’ sites and NovaTrack records every departure and return, so overdue and missing items stand out.
What to tag
- Tool and plant hire items
- Party and marquee equipment
- Scaffolding and access kits
- Mobile toilets and site offices
- Trailers and bakkies for hire
- Medical and mobility hire equipment
How NovaTrack helps
Built around how rental and hire works.
Zone-based check-in/out
Leaving the branch zone marks an item as out. Arriving back marks it as returned. Every move lands in its history.
Overdue and missing items
Quiet-tag alerts flag stock that has stopped reporting, before the next customer asks for it.
Proof of location
See which site an item was on, and when, if a customer disputes a return date.
Hook into your hire system
Webhooks push arrive and leave events into your booking software.

Focus on the work
Run the business, not a lost-and-found desk.
Mounting tips
Where to put the tag.
- Small items
- Inside the carry case, recessed so it is not obvious to a casual look.
- Plant
- Behind a plastic panel so it survives cleaning and pressure washing (AirTags are IP67, not jet-proof).
- Label it
- A “tracked item” sticker deters theft even when the tag is hidden.
Good to know
Check-in and check-out depend on a report arriving while the item is inside the zone, so short stops may be missed. It is a strong record, not a stopwatch.

Difference
The honest answers.
Is it real-time?
No, and we will not pretend it is. A tag’s position updates when an Apple device passes close enough to hear it: every few minutes in busy areas, hours apart in quiet ones. NovaTrack fetches new reports every 15 minutes.
What happens when a thief has an iPhone?
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a tag away from its owner for a while may beep. Hide tags well, use more than one on valuable items, and treat tracking as a recovery aid.
Does it work in remote areas?
Only where Apple devices pass. On a farm, a remote site or underground, updates can be very slow or stop. Tags are strongest where people are: towns, roads, sites and depots.
What about metal?
Solid metal all round blocks Bluetooth. Mount tags behind plastic, near a gap or a vent, or on the outside in a rugged holder.
How long does the battery last?
About a year on a standard CR2032 coin cell. NovaTrack shows battery status so you know which tags to service.
