Construction
Keep track of plant and tools across every site.
Construction kit is spread over sites, yards and bakkies, and it is a favourite target for theft. Tag the generators, compactors, tool cages and small plant, draw a zone around each site, and see what is where from the office.
What to tag
- Generators and lighting towers
- Plate compactors and rammers
- Mini loaders and attachments
- Tool cages and site boxes
- Scaffolding and formwork kits
- Concrete mixers and pumps
How NovaTrack helps
Built around how construction works.
Zones per site
Know what is on each site and get an email when kit arrives or leaves.
After-hours movement
A yard zone emails you the moment something leaves it, including at 2 a.m.
Fewer duplicate purchases
Find the “lost” compactor on the last site before hiring or buying another one.
Evidence for claims
Export a tag’s history for insurance or disputes with subcontractors.

Mounting tips
Where to put the tag.
- Generators
- Inside the plastic cowling or a rugged holder on the frame, clear of the exhaust heat.
- Compactors
- Under the handle cover, away from direct vibration on the base plate.
- Tool cages
- Inside a plastic junction box on the cage, so the signal is not trapped by the mesh.
Good to know
Remote sites with no passing iPhones update slowly. For earthmoving machines you need to watch live, use telematics alongside.
Cost
No SIM, no data bundle, no charging.

Difference
The honest answers.
Is it real-time?
No, and we will not pretend it is. A tag’s position updates when an Apple device passes close enough to hear it: every few minutes in busy areas, hours apart in quiet ones. NovaTrack fetches new reports every 15 minutes.
What happens when a thief has an iPhone?
Apple’s anti-stalking features can warn an iPhone user that an unknown AirTag is travelling with them, and a tag away from its owner for a while may beep. Hide tags well, use more than one on valuable items, and treat tracking as a recovery aid.
Does it work in remote areas?
Only where Apple devices pass. On a farm, a remote site or underground, updates can be very slow or stop. Tags are strongest where people are: towns, roads, sites and depots.
What about metal?
Solid metal all round blocks Bluetooth. Mount tags behind plastic, near a gap or a vent, or on the outside in a rugged holder.
How long does the battery last?
About a year on a standard CR2032 coin cell. NovaTrack shows battery status so you know which tags to service.
